Upon completion of the program students will be able to:

  • Apply historical theories, methods, and concepts to examine systems of social stratification, power, and privilege that arise from class, gender, and race within individual, local, state, national, and global contexts.

  • Evaluate the contributions of various ethnic and racial groups throughout history as agents of social change.

  • Understand and apply historical knowledge as a critical thinking tool that informs responsible citizenry.

  • Apply a historical perspective to analyze and interpret patterns to improve one’s state of humanity.
