Work Experience Education (WORK)

The Work Experience Education (WORK) Program at Skyline College offers the opportunity to earn elective unit credits for work experience. If you are employed or volunteering while enrolled at Skyline College, you can establish written job-related learning objectives with your supervisor at your place of employment. You will continue to work on your learning objectives and make progress towards achieving your goal throughout the semester.

You can earn up to 16 WORK units that can be transferable to the California State Universities (CSU).

- Or Connect with Your Program: Learn about past internships and networking opportunities relevant to your field of study.
Submit the Employment Information Form.
Enroll in a Work Experience Education course.

One thing I’m most proud of in my work experience is how much I’ve grown in my confidence and communication skills. Working as a Digital Navigator has pushed me to help people with all kinds of needs, from setting up emails, applying for benefits, and fixing online forms, to simply making them feel supported. This experience has shown me how much I enjoy working directly with the community and how meaningful it feels to make someone’s day easier. Work Experience Education helped me realize that the skills I’m building now connect to my future career goals in psychology and helping professions. I want other students to know that this program gives you hands-on experience that truly matter.

I benefited from Work Experience by being able to kind of look at my job from a third person point of view. The skills that I'm learning now, I also will be able to apply to the rest of my career. I would say it's a very good program that helps you get credits while you also work... it gives you a kind of sense of accomplishment.

Being able to take work experience this semester has been incredibly helpful to me by not only expanding my knowledge but also improving my skills applicable to work and school. This has honestly been the most productive and on top it semester for me! Our discussions biweekly gave me realistic deadlines and great resources for applicable skills that were able to land me a promotion this semester. With discussions for time management, networking, workplace communication, and making mistakes, these discussions allowed me to learn how to better my skills and gave me time to apply them in my personal life as well as my workplace!
