Our Mission and Vision
The Black Educator Mentorship and Support Program at Skyline College is grounded in a commitment to addressing the underrepresentation of Black educators in community colleges through intentional preparation for full time, tenure track faculty roles.
Our Vision
We envision a community college system where Black educators are equitably represented, supported, and thriving in full time faculty roles. Through B.E.A.M.S., we work toward an academic culture rooted in belonging, care, and collective responsibility at Skyline College and beyond.
Our Mission
The mission of B.E.A.M.S. is to intentionally prepare Black graduate students for community college faculty careers by providing structured mentorship, professional development, and institutional exposure. Through this work, the program strengthens pathways into full time, tenure track faculty positions and contributes to the long term recruitment and retention of Black educators in community colleges.
