The Kababayan Learning Community presents the 19th Pilipino Cultural Night - Ang Aking Ritmo: My Own Rhythm, a heartfelt journey through self-discovery.

Ang Aking Ritmo: My Own Rhythm follows the story of Abbie, a 20-year old student as she goes through the dilemma of finding the balance between familial pressure, finding her true identity and pursuing her passion. Will Abbie find the courage to step into her own spotlight and find her own beat?

Abbie, a 20-year old student from SFSU has always had trouble pleasing her mom, Imelda. Her mom has only ever wanted her to go to school and graduate as a nurse, but Abbie’s true passion lies in dancing.

To add more fuel to the fire, Abbie’s cousin, Princess, whom Imelda always compares her to, is visiting for vacation from the Philippines. 

Abbie must juggle her mother’s criticism and her cousin’s sudden arrival, but things seem to get even worse as Abbie’s 21st birthday approaches...

English 104 AK, or “PCN Class,” is intended to guide students as they develop the reading and writing skills needed to propose and prepare a production to celebrate Pilipino Culture Night at Skyline College. The class is designed for students who want to learn critical thinking, reading and writing skills to produce a large-scale event.
