History is the study of the human past and how it emerged out of the traditions and customs that produced it. It is only by studying the history of other people, civilizations and cultural traditions that we can hope to gain perspective on our own unique story. In order to succeed in the History Program, students will need to develop strong reading, writing, critical thinking, and analytical skills, as well as demonstrate a strong desire for self-discovery through a comparison of their personal historical experiences with those of others.
