We are committed to removing barriers to better serve all students, regardless of background, identity and/or characteristics, and we seek to build a campus culture that is not only inclusive but also actively anti-racist.

Campus Climate: We strive to cultivate a campus-wide climate that reflects a student-centered philosophy with mutual respect between all constituencies and appreciation for diversity. We are committed to supporting intellectual exploration and discovery while encouraging open dialogue, diverse perspectives, and the respectful exchange of ideas.

Open Access: We are dedicated to providing every student with an avenue to achieve their goals by providing them access to quality educational programs and services in multiple modalities.

Student Success and Equity: We empower students to achieve their goals by nurturing their sense of agency throughout their educational experience. We seek to identify and address equity gaps through evidence-based research to ensure that every student has the resources and support to succeed.

Academic Excellence: We are committed to excellence and innovation in teaching and learning within and beyond the classroom. We are committed to maintaining academic rigor and quality with relevant and evolving curricula and well-equipped programs that include new and emerging fields of study.

Community Partnership: Valuing our role as an academic and cultural center, we are dedicated to meeting the needs of the community and labor market through promoting civic engagement and collaborating with local school districts, industry, non-profits, government, and the arts.

Institutional Transparency: We seek to sustain fair, inclusive, transparent, and well-understood institutional processes and structures based on open and honest communication across all the various aspects of the institution, including institutional planning, participatory governance, budgeting and resource allocation.

Sustainability: We are committed to implementing institutional practices that advance environmental sustainability and justice to meet the needs of current students without compromising the ability of future generations of students to have their needs met.
