As a commitment to eliminating barriers for undocumented students at the San Mateo County Community College District the Undocumented Community Center (UCC) is pleased to offer the Unlocking Futures Fellowship (UFF).

The UFF provides the following:

  • Hands-on/Experiential Learning
  • Personalized Professional Mentoring
  • Professional Development
  • Networking Opportunities
  • A Yearly Award of up to $7500 or $3750 per semester

Fellows are paired with on-campus mentors and gain hands-on experience related to their own academic or professional interests while growing a network of mentors. Fellows receive professional mentorship and attend monthly enrichment seminars to support their growth as aspiring professionals.  

Program Expectations

  • Develop a service project that aims to remove educational, professional, or personal barriers for undocumented students 
  • Get involved in UCC events & activities
  • Regular meetings with UCC lead & mentor(s)
  • Enrichment seminars & Community Building
  • Milestones and Reflection Papers
  • UFF Symposium Presentation

Eligibility

  • Be an ENROLLED student at the campus you are applying
  • Be willing & able to dedicate approximately 10 hrs per week to the fellowship
  • Be available to attend required meeting & trainings
  • Be involved at your campus and/or UCC
  • Commit to a semester or year-long (fall and spring semesters) fellowship
  • Proficient in English

This is open to all students, regardless of immigration status.
