Print Collection

The Skyline College Library offers the following materials in print format:

Books: 50,000 volumes covering almost all subjects and searchable through our online catalog. Books are organized by subject using the Library of Congress (LC) Classification system.

Textbook Reserves: Some instructors put copies of course materials for students to check out for 2 hours and use in the library. Check the Course Reserves Database to see if your instructor has put materials on hold in the library. Request items at the Circulation Desk.

Other Textbooks: the Associated Students of Skyline College (ASSC) provided funding for high-demand, high-cost textbooks for students. These items are also available at the Circulation Desk.

Reference Collection: Reference materials are located behind the Research and Information Desk. These materials are not available for check out, but can be used in the library.

Graphic Novels: best-selling graphic novel titles are located near the periodicals area of the library.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Books: Books appropriate for ESOL students are located to the right of the library classroom, Room 5200A. ESOL books are organized by the following levels: picture books, beginner, intermediate, advanced, and non-fiction.

The Phil Garlington Collection: Phil Garlington was the first president of Skyline College from 1969-1972. This collection of rare and vintage booked was donated to Skyline College Library in 2008. To access this collection, please ask for assistance at the Research and Information Desk.

Periodicals: Current print magazines and newspapers titles are available in the Periodicals section for browsing and searching. Older editions for check out are available by request at the Circulation Desk.
