Login & Navigate
Visual Walkthrough of the Basics
Logging In
- Click on the copyright symbol in the footer of your page.
- This will take you to the page to edit. It may prompt with OneLogin.
- If you are unable to login to one page, try another in your area, then contact the web programmer if the issue persists
- In the home area with all website folders, you can use the top-right filter to find
your website
- See the next section, Navigating in the Backend, for details
Locks & Lightbulbs
Locks and Lightbulbs tell you if the page is available to edit.
- If the lightbulb in the top right corner is off when you open a page, the page is editable.
- The lightbulb will turn on when you click a green edit button and open the page editor. The page is now locked by you, and only you can edit.
- If there is a lock there instead of a lightbulb, that means someone else has the page checked out and you cannot edit. The edit and
publish options will not appear.
- You can find out who has the page locked by going back to the folder and hovering over the lock for that page. The current editor's name will appear. You can ask them or the web programmer to unlock the page for you -- whichever is easier.
Staged Content vs Published Content
While you are editing in the backend and press "Save", your edits are not yet live. You don't have to worry about any in-progress content being seen until you press "Publish."
Want to revert to an older version of the page? Check "Reverting to Previous Versions" for help.
After Editing
When you are done editing, you need to consider the state of your page for other editors.
- If you publish the page, Modern Campus will automatically check the page out and the
lightbulb will turn off.
- Now, others can edit the page.
- If you do not publish the page OR if you click an edit button again after publishing,
the lightbulb will stay on.
- Others will not be able to edit the page.
