Creating captions on YouTube
Go to youtube.com
Sign into the Skyline College Oral History channel (If you are signed into another Google account, click on the round icon at the upper right to sign out of that account first, then click Sign in)
- For User Name or Email, enter: skylinecollegeoralhistory
- For Password, enter: SkylineL*****y (S & L must be capital) (use letters instead of ****)
- Click: Sign in
- Click on "My Channel" on the left task bar
- Click on "Video Manager" at the top
- Find the video file you want to add captions to and click the "Edit" button to the right of the file
- Click: "Subtitles & CC" at the upper right
- Click: "Add new subtitles or CC"
- Click: "English"
- Click: "Create new subtitles or CC"
- Play the video and when you want to add captions, click in the box that says "Type subtitle here then press enter" and start typing the captions you want to add
- Continue to add captions throughout the video
- When you are done, click the "Publish" button at the upper right
To make the captions show automatically (instead of requiring the viewer to turn them
on):
- Follow directions for creating a blog post
- Go to HTML
- Add: &cc_load_policy=1 to the end of the iframe code, just before the last ". For example:
