Google Scholar searches specifically for scholarly literature - peer-reviewed papers,
theses, books, preprints, etc. Some of the search results are available in full-text
but many display only an abstract with links to pay-for-document services. You often may be able to retrieve the full-text of these articles by using the Skyline
College Library Article Delivery Service.
Highwire Press
A division of the Stanford University Libraries, HighWire Press hosts a large repository
of peer-reviewed content, much of it available for free. Free content is clearly marked
in search results.
Science in Context (Gale)
Detailed coverage of popular subjects from earth science and life science, to space,
technology, mathematics and science history. Sources include Gale Encyclopedia of
Science, Chemical Elements, Science in Dispute and Macmillan Science Library.
