Skyline College Library recently completed its first outreach project with San Bruno’s Capuchino High School, our new Middle College partner. Librarians were asked to “make research less stressful for Cap’s International Baccalaureate (IB) students — to demystify and make accessible the research process.”

capuchinoIn May, Skyline College librarian Jessica Silver-Sharp hosted Capuchino instructor Martee Lopez-Schmitt and school librarian Anna Lapid on the Skyline College campus. The group decided the best way to support the IB students would be to develop an online student Research Guide to be used in conjunction with a week-long research workshop taking place on the Capuchino High School campus the first week of June. On June 1st, the Guide went live.

To carry the partnership forward, Cap students will have an opportunity to participate in an interactive research workshop taught by Skyline College librarians. Students will gain additional experience with information literacy skills such as finding, evaluating and citing library sources.
