On October 14, 2014, El Grupo Bécalos, a music group comprised of five of our Bécalos students, performed for other students, faculty and staff in the Fireside Dining Room in Building 6 as part of the Latin American Heritage Month activities. Members of the band were very comfortable on stage as they belted out traditional and up-beat Latin music and preformed a classic rock song completely in English. These Bécalos students not only showcased their talents and knowledge of music, but also exhibited their progress in learning the English language. Language immersion is one of the many goals of the Bécalos Program and the students have been demonstrating an increased level of English language ability since the start of the program. Thank you to the ASSC for providing the Bécalos students with such a unique learning experience and opportunity.
