CAR / Van Pool Program
In an effort promote a healthier and more environmentally friendly community; Skyline College is instituting a new Car/Vanpool parking program. Carpooling is a friendly and sustainable way to travel and benefits the entire community at large.
Just a few benefits of car pooling are:
- Less stress commuting to and from work
- Financial savings due to sharing commuting costs
- Reduced need for parking spaces
- Increased free time for riders
- Reduced carbon emissions
Car/Van Pool Parking Application Process
To qualify for the program:
- You must be either a Student or Employee of the San Mateo Community College District.
- For students, at least 1 student must have paid for a semester or dual semester student parking permit and each student must be enrolled in at least one class at Skyline College.
- You need a minimum of THREE students or SMCCD employees on the application.
Each permit is only valid for the semester it is issued. Staff, Faculty and Students that wish to participate in the Car Pool parking program can pick up an application at the Skyline College Public Safety Office (Building 6, Room 106) or download the application and drop it off at the Public Safety Office.
Car/Van Pool Parking Regulations
Any vehicle parking in any Car/Van Pool parking stall without a visible Car/Van Pool parking permit issued from the Public Safety Department may receive a citation. Car/Van Pool parking permits are valid ONLY in designated Car/Van Pool parking spaces.
In order for a vehicle to park in a Car/Van Pool designated space, the vehicle MUST display a valid Car/Van Pool parking permit and a valid, student parking permit or valid daily parking permit, as well as having a minimum of (3) occupants in the vehicle when it is parked. Car/Van Pool parking permits are valid only for the driver(s) and vehicle(s) listed on the application.
It is a violation of law to copy, duplicate, manufacture or otherwise reproduce Car/Van Pool parking permits as well as a violation of the Student Code of Conduct. Violators may be arrested and prosecuted for forgery and theft pursuant to California Penal Code sections 470 and 484 as well as face immediate student disciplinary action. Car/Van Pool parking permits may not be transferred or lent to another person or another vehicle that is not on the application. If a person displays a valid Car/Van Pool parking permit issued to another person or vehicle, that vehicle is subject to a citation. The Car/Van Pool parking permit will be seized and a report will be forwarded to the Vice-President of Student Services for a violation of the Student Code of Conduct. The seized Car/Van Pool parking permit will not be returned to the person(s) who applied for the permit.
