2012 interview by Camille Belamide about Luchia de Lara.
Everything in her life is a surprise and
the biggest change that has ever happened to her was being able to expand her imagination and
continue to explore her new life in
America.

This
photo is a picture of my mom’s parents & brothers and sisters
She is
not in the picture because she was not born yet. It is important to understand
this
Photo
because my mom’s siblings are old than her and there is a big age difference
caused the separation of her
close relationships with her siblings and
parents.
Table of Contents:
1. The Beginning of her life
2. Where her dreams began
3. Oh Ms. America, Oh I miss Philippines
Segment 1
The Beginning of her life (0:00-2:38)
“ The beginning
of her life” segment is about what her life was like growing up in the
Philippines. She was the youngest child out of ten siblings. She imagined back
into her childhood and what it was like without her parents, and the activities
she did that were most important to her as a child.
Segment 2
Where her Dreams began(2:39-8:32)
“ Where her Dreams
Began” segment is about her timeline growing up becoming a young teenager. The
benefits to having a large family in the Philippines is everyone admired the
talents of each siblings. Her imagination was bold.
When she was becoming a young adult her freedom became real when her family
found out they were American citizens because her father was born in Hawaii.
Once she had the opportunity to move to America she took that chance Nothing was ever impossible to her while she was growing up
because her dreams became goals which became realities.

This
is a picture when my mom was in highschool ( Philippines) on the volleyball team.
This
was a sport she really loved playing since she was young and throughout college
in America
Segment 3
Oh Ms. America, Oh I miss Philippines (8:33-14:58)
My mom had enough of same ol’
Philippines and decide to take her chances in America. She describes her
experience in America. It wasn’t about fame and materialism. Soon her learned to support her family. She also discusses the
differences between living in America and the lifestyle in the Philippines. You
can tell she does miss her Native country, but America is continuing to be life
changing.

October 2009
This is a family portrait
9/10 siblings and Luchia’s mom who past away in October 2009.
Her second oldest brother( who is not in the photo) was currently in the
Philippines.
This is one of the last
photos of my mom and her family because her sister past away last year in 2011.
The Joy each and every
one of her brothers and sisters have is the blessing of coming to America
reuniting with each other
And being able to extend
the de Lara Kapamilya( Family)
Love life to live life.(14:58-25:04)
Nostalgia took its toll
in her life when she talks about differences in this segment. America has been
still a surprise to her everyday. She learns that the
lesson in life is not about always following American Dream. It is about learning to sacrifice everything
you have to be only happy in life. The strength she has is because of her
family and God. She works 6times as hard because she wants to provide for her
family better than she ever had when she was younger. She is a wonderful
mother/ grandmother and friend. Adapting to American lifestyle is difficult
till this day, because of the way she is raised. She believes in discipline in
life. Her happiness came from all learning experiences, working hard,
imagination, dreams and opportunities.

This is a recent photo of
my mom ( Luchia de Lara).
She is happy as can be 2012
