Magazine & Journal Databases (to access articles):

Gale PowerSearch databases on campus or off-campus w/ library card
articles from academic journals, popular magazines, newspapers and reference sources; excellent general periodical database.
 

o        To narrow searches, use the Advanced search mode

o        PLEASE NOTE: When search results are first displayed, only magazine articles are shown, if available for your search.
Click on the “Academic journalstab to display journal articles on your topic; click on the "Newstab for news articles; click on the "Referencetab for reference articles.

  • Once you find one article specifically on your topic, click on any relevant subject headings (near the bottom of the article page) to find more articles on that topic.

Ethnic Newswatch - on campus or off-campus w/ library card
Full-text articles from about 200 newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press, in English and Spanish. Enter key words for your search topic in the "Words in Articles" box on the Search screen and click on the "Submit Search" button.


InfoTrac Newspapers on campus or off-campus w/ library card: a database of full-text articles from N.Y. Times, S.F. Chronicle, L.A. Times, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Seattle Times, Fresno Bee, Times (London, England), Financial Times (London, England) & Manila Bulletin (Philippines).


Books:

The PLS Online Catalog is the online catalog to find books in Skyline Library and in all libraries in the Peninsula Library System.

·         Type search words (keep your search words broad) in the first search box & click Submit.

·         The search results will show books and other materials in all libraries in the PLS system.

·         To Limit your search results to materials at Skyline College Library:

·         Click on Modify Search near the top of the screen.

·         You will be brought back to the search screen and your search term(s) will reappear.

·         Scroll down to the Location selection box (2nd box under Limit to: below the search boxes).

·         Select Skyline College in the Location box.

·         Then click the Submit button.
