Two types of tools are available to search specifically for web images and video. Image and video search engines search throughout Web pages to find video and image files. Image and video databases search within their own special collections of image files.

- Internet Archive's Moving
Images - Thousands of
digital movies which range from classic full-length films, to daily
alternative news broadcasts, to videos of every genre uploaded by Archive
users.

Microsoft Office Design Gallery Live - Free clip art for legal users of Microsoft Office products. - CalPhotos - 35,000 images--mostly public domain-- of plants, fungi, animals, people & culture, & landscapes and habitats around the world.
- Berkeley Digital Library Collections - A variety of collections,
including California Heritage, a collection of thousands of
photographs relating to
- National Archives and Records Administration Exhibit Hall - A variety of collections, including Picturing The Century, an exhibit of photographs from every decade in the last 100 years.
- Fotosearch - extensive library of royalty-free images: stock photos, illustrations and clip art from many publishers
- New York Times Photo Archives - more than 1,100 historic images carefully preserved over the past 100 years; limited size images.
- Picture Collection Online - An image resource collection of 30,000 digitized images from books, magazines and newspapers as well as original photographs, prints and postcards, mostly created before 1923. From N.Y. Public Library.
