After connecting to the
Literature Resource Center (by clicking on link above), to search for articles
related to issues in Othello, follow
these steps:
Click
on Advanced search
o
In
the first search box, type: Othello
and change the “Field” menu to: “Title – all words”
o
In
the second search box, type key words for one concept of your specific topic,
e.g. Iago and change the “Field” menu
to: “Fulltext”
o
In
the third search box, type key words for a 2nd concept of your specific topic,
e.g. outsider* OR alien* OR foreigner* and
change the “Field” menu to: “Fulltext”
o
Click
the Search button
Results
are divided into categories for different types of articles— shown by tabs
at the top of the results page:
Biographies (of authors) & Literary Criticism, Articles & Work
Overviews
o
Click
the Literary
Criticism, Articles & Work Overviews tab

Articles
will be displayed for “Literary Criticism “

Click
on titles of articles to view the full text of the articles

To
e-mail an article, click on the E-mail
button at the top left of each article page

Click
the Articles
& Work Overviews tabs for additional articles under those
categories

journals, popular magazines and newspapers; excellent set of general
periodical databases.
o To narrow searches, combine concepts with AND.
o
PLEASE NOTE: When
search results are first displayed, only magazine
articles are shown, if available for your search.
Click on the “Academic Journals” tab to display journal articles "News" tab
to display all news articles; click on the "Reference" tab
to display reference articles.
The PLS Online Catalog is the online catalog to find books in Skyline Library and in all libraries in the Peninsula Library System. After clicking on the link above to access the catalog, follow the steps below to find books on Othello:
- Change “Any filed” to “Subject”, type: Shakespeare and Othello in the search box & click the Submit button.
- The search results will show books and other materials in all libraries in the PLS system
- To Limit your results to books at Skyline College
Library, scroll down to Limit to: Location:
pull-down menu below the search boxes, scroll down in the Location:

- Once you find one book on your topic, click on the Subjects for that book to find other books on the same or related subjects
