Students explore and expand their understanding about the biological, interpersonal and socio-cultural dimensions of sex and sexuality. Topics include anatomy and physiology; psychosexual development; dating and relationships; gender expression; sexual orientations; pregnancy, childbirth and parenting; contraceptive methods; sexually transmitted infections; pleasure, arousal and sexual behavior; sexual violence and exploitation; commercial sex work; myths and misconceptions; and communication skills. Provides an introduction to the discipline of Public Health. Students will gain an understanding of the basic concepts, movements, accomplishments and functions of public health. Topics include the epidemiology of infectious and chronic disease; prevention and control of diseases; social determinants of health; health equity and disparities; community organizing and health promotion; environmental health and safety; global health; and healthcare policy and management.
