Robert Ortbal recieved his MFA at the University of California, Davis. Since then he has exhibited his work extensively in California and elsewhere at venues including the U.C. Berkeley Art Museum, Oakland Museum, Wiegand Gallery at NDNU, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, the Richmond Art Center and the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in Colorado.
Ortbal works with a wide range of both natural and industrial materials, developing sculptural installations as well as smaller scale relief and in-the-round pieces. Public Commissions include works at the Oakland International Airport, and the U.C. Davis Medical Center.
